Since the early days of The Internet, when the World Wide Web was just a twinkle in the eyes of techno-freaks who owned fax machines :-), I was online serving free information and free software to anyone who wanted it.
Starting with Fidonet, and using local bulletin boards to send and receive email, I progressed to running my own BBS "The Vine Mailbox Multi-Network BBS". At that time, people dialled in to my computer directly via the telephone line, it was only possible to have one user online at any one time.
The Vine Mailbox Multi-Network BBS was unique at the time in that it not only offered users the abiltiy to send and receive mail via Fidonet, but also via the VBBS network and incredibly, the Internet. The connectivity was important to me and I put a lot of time into getting the gateway to the Internet working with the VBBS software. The result was that this was one of the first free Internet email services in the United Kingdom!
Enjoying serving free information and free software to whoever required it, I recognised that the Internet was quickly developing as the number one medium for the sharing of free software and information. I moved my interests from BBS software to the World Wide Web.
Now, I enjoy building and maintaining Free Sites for the World Wide Web. I research and publish free and public domain information. I enkjoy putting factual information online. Check out the many sites I maintain - there is something for everyone!
