Sir,
I enjoyed your webpage on Roman coins and the Emperor Hadrian. But are you sure that he is, as you stated adrssing a crowd from the steps of the temple of Divus Caesar?
If you look at the wall beneath his feet , then you will notice several , how do the English call this?, battering rams that were fitted to the bow of a ship.
It is well known that these trophies from a victory at sea were embellishing the ROSTRUM, a plattform from wich to adress crowds . It was opposite Caesars temple and under the tabularium.
